Fermín Aldeguer Crowned MotoGP Rookie of the Year
The 20th round of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship took place at the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia, concluding the Asian leg of the season. While the Moto2 title fight remains undecided, Fermín Aldeguer secured a major milestone for LS2 – being named Rookie of the Year in the MotoGP premier class.
MotoGP
Aldeguer had a mixed weekend. On Saturday, he impressed with a 6th place in qualifying and initially finished 3rd in the Sprint. However, a 8-second penalty for tire pressure dropped him to 7th place.
Despite the setback, Aldeguer was officially awarded the Rookie of the Year title – a recognition of his outstanding debut season in MotoGP. In Sunday’s race, he was battling within the Top 10 before crashing out and failing to finish.
Moto2
It was a tough day for LS2 riders in the intermediate class. Following a serious crash in Moto3, the Moto2 race was shortened to 11 laps.
Manu González, who had led the championship for over 15 rounds, crashed while leading and eventually finished 25th after rejoining, keeping his title hopes alive.
Senna Agius, fresh off a win in Australia, struggled to find pace in Sepang and was forced to retire due to a technical issue. Adrián Huertas finished 18th after the restart, and Harrison Voight crossed the line 26th.
Moto3
The Moto3 race was overshadowed by a serious crash involving two riders, which delayed the start by nearly two hours. After being shortened to ten laps, Joel Kelso finished 12th, Ruché Moodley placed 19th, and Cormac Buchanan did not finish after a crash, fortunately without injury.
A Historic Title for LS2
Fermín Aldeguer ends the season with a historic personal and brand achievement. His Rookie of the Year title highlights his exceptional talent and consistent performance throughout the 2025 season – and marks another proud moment for LS2 in the world of MotoGP.
